Understanding Payment Processors on IndieMade

Running an online store requires a secure and efficient way for your customers to pay you. That's where payment processors come in. Payment processors are trusted companies that handle transactions between you and your customers. IndieMade primarily supports three main payment processors: PayPal, Stripe, and Square. It's quite common for store owners to use PayPal in tandem with Stripe or Square to broaden the available payment methods for their customers.

Additionally, IndieMade offers two more payment methods: PayPal Hosted Checkout and Manual Payment. These are alternatives that can be used depending on your specific needs.

Remember, while payment processors charge a small fee for their services, typically 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction, IndieMade itself does not apply any additional charges for transactions. We are committed to helping you maximize your earnings while providing a seamless shopping experience for your customers.

Main Payment Processors

PayPal Payments

PayPal Payments allow your customers to pay using a variety of methods such as credit cards, their PayPal balance, and even Venmo, directly on your site. This creates a smooth and seamless shopping experience as customers stay on your website during checkout.

Square

Square, like Stripe, allows your customers to pay using their credit cards directly on your site during checkout. It's important to note that you wouldn't need both Stripe and Square as they provide the same services. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

Additional Payment Methods

PayPal Hosted Checkout

PayPal Hosted Checkout, also known as PayPal Checkout, is a more traditional method of processing payments. During checkout, customers are redirected to PayPal's platform to complete their payment and then brought back to your site. This method was more commonly used before secure SSL APIs became widespread. Modern payment methods like PayPal Payments, Stripe, and Square, offer a more integrated experience but rest assured, they're just as secure, if not more so, as they follow industry-standard encryption practices.

Manual Payment

Manual Payment allows your customers to check out and settle payment with you directly after the order has been placed. The labels and instruction text for this method can be customized by you.
